They are knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. They work across Campus Recreation Services facilities and fields. This individual will provide support to all facilities and programs. They will support in the development of facility maintenance and emergency procedures and implement them. **Responsibilities** **DUTIES , FUNCTIONS , AND RESPONSIBILITIES** : _The following information is intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbents in this_ _position and is not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty of responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical extension of position responsibilities._ **RESPONSIBILITES** + Performs electrical work to repair or replace electrical motors, electrical equipment, control devices, etc. + Perform carpentry work in constructing repairing or installing countertops, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building frames and trim. + Performs such tasks as painting, tile replacement, plumbing, and all other indoor and outdoor general building repair and maintenance. May require work at high elevation. + Responsible for general repairs such as flooring, wall coverings, ceilings, millwork, locks and fixtures. + Performs preventive maintenance and repair work on air handlers and pool systems. + Performs preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and cardio and strength machines, in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. + Maintain electronic work records and checklists for building systems and controls. + Complete personal performance appraisal and respond to grievances or complaints. + Coordinate projects with campus facilities and custodial team. + May be required to supervise outside vendors for specialty work. + May make work assignments for maintenance mechanics and maintenance workers and follows up on assignment to ensure that work was completed properly and on time. + Ability to perform duties in a safe and clean environment. + Ability to be flexible and perform other duties as needed regarding the overall maintenance and safety of CRS facilities and fields. + Be knowledgeable in department Emergency Response Guides and Campus Safety procedures. + Conduct daily, weekly, monthly andannual inspections as required. + Report on facilities incidents sharing relevant information. + Maintain all required certifications. + Work with the department of Campus Recreation Services to provide high quality service, adding to the campus experience and representing the University of Utah to the highest standards. + Attend regular professional staff meetings. + Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Working a flexible schedule to best meet the needs of the position and work life balance. + Other duties as assigned. **PROBLEM SOLVING** Incumbents are authorized to respond to service calls, assess needs or damage and make decisions regarding the course of action to be taken. They can make repairs or call on the required trades as needed. They are also authorized to advise the appropriate administration of the situation. Must communicate effectively with all guests and program participants, work with multiple levels of personalities, and respond to operational changes and emergency situations. **REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY** This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. **Minimum Qualifications** Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards; ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and be able to make mechanical sketches and drawings; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. Effective communication skills: and exceptional guest service skills required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams that value interactions among all individuals and foster a sense of belonging and wellbeing. Knowledge of standard practices and basic understanding of emergency response and risk management in a college community. May require lifting and transporting heavy objects.
