White Museum in Thibodaux, LA. This Maintenance Repairer 1 will help with the daily operations and preventative maintenance at the E.D. White Museum. The Louisiana State Museum’s collections and educational programs stimulate awareness and appreciation of our state’s rich and diverse history and culture. This National Historic Landmark, situated on the banks of scenic Bayou Lafourche near Thibodaux, was the residence of two of Louisiana’s foremost political figures: Edward Douglas White, who was governor from 1835 to 1839, and his son, Edward Douglass White, who was appointed to the United States Supreme Court in 1894 and served as chief justice from 1910 to 1921. An exhibit in this historic home tells the story of the Bayou Lafourche area, with features on the Chitimacha Indians, Acadian settlers, slavery, sugar cane plantations, and the White family. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Performs daily operations and schedule maintenance at E.D. White HVAC systems to include lubrication, replacing and repairing service lines, drains, traps, bearings, filter replacement, and cleaning. Removal and replacement of motors, valves, coils, service lines, and all hardware as needed. Checking the temperature and humidity throughout the museum complexes and keepings records. + Performs minor constructions and building repairs to include installation, finishing, painting of sheetrock and paneling. Performs installation and repairs of wood, tile, marble, and slate floorings and walls. Completes minor repairs to doors, door frames, and windows, window frames, which includes removal, cutting, and installing glass panes. + Performs minor plumbing repairs and installations to include pipe threading, soldering, and gluing on water supply and wastewater systems. Performs repairs to all plumbing fixtures such as sink faucets, toilets, tube valves throughout the museum, including drain repair and stoppages and any other plumbing as needed. + Performs minor electrical maintenance of electrical systems to include installations and removal on conduit, electrical wiring, receptacle and switch replacement. Performs removal and installation of wiring to HVAC system motors, condensers, fans, and blowers on change outs. + Performs all ground maintenance and upkeep of grounds. Cleans grounds, gardens, and water features – collect litter, debris, and trash. Mows, weed-eats, edges, and blows grounds. Trims and prunes grounds. + Oversees outside contractors to ensure compliance with contracts, performance to industry standards, all state and municipal codes on all museums projects. + Performs and completes other duties as assigned. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type:This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12 month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies, depending on experience.** Work Schedule: The E.D. White Museums is open to the public 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM on Tuesday-Saturday; this position may be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
