Facilities Maintenance Mechanic (Plumber)Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic (Plumber) is responsible for performing general maintenance activities with a focus on plumbing systems and building equipment. This position supports the operations team in maintaining safe, functional, and efficient building operations while delivering excellent service to clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform minor plumbing repairs and maintenance requiring a State of Michigan Plumbers licenseComplete general maintenance tasks including light fixture maintenance, ballast replacement, and office furniture repairsInstall and maintain office fixtures including pictures, keyboard trays, and furniture systemsAssist with grounds maintenance and minor landscaping repairsExecute special assignments including painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, and specialized cleaningRelocate office furniture, equipment, and materials as neededSupport other operational staff in equipment repair and maintenance activitiesMaintain and organize accurate records of completed workPerform Maximo data entry and set up maintenance routesFollow safety protocols for handling, storing, and disposing of hazardous materialsAttend required safety training and adhere to all safety policiesMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentRequired QualificationsValid State of Michigan Plumbers licenseAbility to maintain regular and predictable attendanceDemonstrated experience in general facilities maintenance and repairAbility to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionallyAbility to work in various environments including outdoors, mechanical rooms, and potentially extreme weather conditionsWillingness to work with exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, and electrical systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Maximo or similar maintenance management systemsPrevious experience in commercial building maintenanceKnowledge of HVAC, electrical, and other building systemsExperience with safety procedures and hazardous materials handlingStrong organizational and record-keeping skillsCustomer service orientation and effective communication skillsPhysical RequirementsRegularly required to stand, use hands, and communicate verballyFrequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlVision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustmentRegular exposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and high voltageFrequent exposure to wet conditions, heights, airborne particles, and weather elementsOccasional exposure to toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and vibrationWork environment is typically loud
