This position involves being an essential member of the maintenance crew, responsible for the upkeep and repair of plant equipment at an industrial facility. The role requires expertise in electrical, welding, and instrumentation areas, with a primary goal of ensuring safe and efficient production by responding promptly to changing conditions.
ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and heat exchangers, on a scheduled or emergency basis.Emphasize preventive maintenance and welding.Conduct mechanical repairs and building cleaning.Control process variables using control panels to manage flows, temperatures, pressures, vacuum, time, and chemicals.Identify malfunctioning units by observing control instruments and responding to automatic warning signals.Inspect equipment to determine the location and nature of malfunctions such as leaks, breakages, and faulty valves.Communicate directly with production to coordinate maintenance and repair work.Patrol units to verify safe and efficient operating conditions.Assist with new installations and other projects as requested by the supervisor.Work with contractors to plan and implement the installation of new equipment or systems.Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.Engage in programs and procedures to ensure plant cleanliness.Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Essential SkillsMinimum of three to five years of experience in electrical or instrumentation maintenance and repair.Understanding of plant operational processes and procedures, including routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices.Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care.Mechanical, basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic experience.Forklift and manlift experience.Knowledge of PPE's and Fall Protection.Knowledgeable in Lockout Blockout (Machine Specific).Demonstrated interpersonal skills.Ability to work with all levels within the organization and in a diverse group.Ability to write detailed repair reports and possess good verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & QualificationsA high school diploma is required.

This job takes place in an indoor and outdoor facility, characterized by dusty, dirty, and hot conditions in the summer, and colder temperatures in the winter. The facility is a feed milling plant primarily producing food for cows and dairy cows.
