The Maintenance Manager, Reliability Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance execution and reliability for the Acetate Tow Unit at the Celanese Narrows VA Site. This role manages the full maintenance work process—from job notification through completion—ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations that support continuous production reliability.
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities (SQRE – Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement)
Stewardship
Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety policies and industry best practicesParticipate in PHAs, MOCs, and support resolution of safety notificationsChampion maintenance initiatives that enhance safety and complianceQuality
Align maintenance efforts with product quality standards and requirementsProduction & Reliability
Responsible for completing maintenance within allocated funds. Own unit maintenance budget: forecast costs and manage accrualsManage short- and long-term maintenance schedules aligned with production plansLead unit reliability strategy; identify and resolve emerging equipment issuesCoordinate daily maintenance execution with 24/7 and other unit teamsOversee turnarounds, long-lead parts planning, and asset repair/replacement strategiesApprove and optimize maintenance strategies, address resource conflictsEnsure smooth handoff of equipment, post-maintenance and system readinessEngagement
Model positive leadership and support a culture of ownership and collaborationMentor and develop team members in key skills and leadership behaviorsCollaborate closely with Unit Leadership, Daily Execution, Stewardship, and Technology teams to achieve unit goals Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (preferred) OR experience in lieu of degree is also acceptableMinimum 5 years of experience in maintenance, heavy industry, or related fieldStrong leadership and cross-functional communication skillsAbility to balance production demands, reliability, and cost considerationsHigh stress tolerance and adaptability in fast-paced environmentsStrong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and proactive problem-solving mindsetStrong computer skills (Microsoft Applications, SAPPM preferred)Celanese is a global leader in chemistry, producing specialty material solutions used across most major industries and consumer applications.
