ResponsibilitiesPURPOSE: Plans, organizes and provides supervision and oversight for daily maintenance operations and activities to maximize plant productivity and efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable lawsActively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.Senior site management shall ensure the training needs of the site are resourced, implemented, and meet the requirements outlined in system elements 2.9 and that site personnel meet the required competencies to carry out those functions affecting the legality and safety of food sector packaging.Senior site management shall ensure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.Senior site management shall inform their certification body of any defined blackout periods that prevent unannounced re-certification audits from occurring when the site is not operating for legitimate business reasons. The list of blackout dates and their justification shall be submitted to the certification body a minimum of one (1) month before the sixty (60) day re-certification window for the agreed -upon unannounced audit.Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as neededManages all maintenance operations within appropriate process guidelines and budgets;Oversees all cost control/justification for department, including purchasing of machine repair parts;Develops and implements modifications and improvements, recommending specifications and scheduling for new projects and process improvements;Schedules daily repair activities;Maintains preventive maintenance program and insures that these are performed as scheduled;Supervises and inspects repair and maintenance work to insure the effective, efficient and up-to-date maintenance and repair technology practices are used;Reviews and analyzes maintenance work orders to ensure that proper repair was made and trends in machine issues are identified;Maintains work order system;Actively meets with vendors and suppliers to insure best price/quality are being received on all part and/or repair orders;Maintains and insures organization of part inventory;Conducts lock-out/tag-out training as needed;Maintains physical plant including grounds;Coordinates with outside repair vendors and insures that their work is completed according to standard procedures.Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by:Providing definition of job dutiesProviding training opportunities for staffConducting performance evaluationsDefining criteria for personnel advancementAdminister coaching/counseling as required in a timely mannerProvide accurate attendance records to human resources indicating any point assessmentsEnforce personnel policies and procedures; complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner;Assists in the selection of staff;Maintain safe working conditions with a goal of 1 or less recordable accidents and zero lost time accidents;Control employee overtime hours.Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.Actively participate in production management team meetings as requested. QualificationsEDUCATIONAL, SKILL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and subordinatesRepair and Maintenance knowledge of injection molding, stretch blow molding, and assembly equipmentPreventative Maintenance Program developmentKnowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, rules and regulationsDemonstrated ability to work well in a team environmentFlexibility to work some overtime, as necessaryPreparation of cost estimates, budgets, correspondence and status reportsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and automated work order tracking system.5-7 years of progressive experience as a Plant Maintenance Manager in a high volume-manufacturing environment.4-5 years of experience in repair and maintenance of injection molding and/or stretch blow molding equipmentBe a Role Model – No exceptions from safety absolutes and plant rulesIf you feel a task that you have been asked to complete is unsafe, stop and request additional informationVisible participation in pre-shift meetings reiterating safety – importance to the entire organization; reiterate need foremployees to participate in their own safety programEach meeting begins with a safety contact to consciously build into our daily routine that safety is key to our successDaily Floor Time completing workplace behavioral observationsDaily review housekeeping with focus on your areasDaily conduct conversations with team members on safetyConduct discipline when safety absolutes or plant rules are broken –documentReinforce procedures and if none exist; complete themRespond to employee concerns with the respect that it deservesSupport EHS Framework scoring and improvement plansDo not communicate mixed messages.
