About this Job
This is a full-time position located at the State Museum, New Orleans, LA.
This is a highly responsible maintenance position that acts as the assistant to the Facility Maintenance Manager with the responsibilities of prioritizing, planning, assigning, and oversight of all the maintenance repairer positions.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
This position directs and performs skilled mechanical maintenance work in the installation operation, repair, preventative maintenance of the air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, ventilation, plumbing, and basic electrical systems throughout the museum complexes. The position is responsible for quality assurance of the work being performed, ensuring safe work working practices are in place, equipment safety, and the museum assignments are completed properly and in a timely manner. The position is responsible for keeping records of preventative maintenance schedules and ensuring that the equipment records are up to date. The position will assist with the compliance of all outside HVAC contractors and prepare reports as necessary.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This is a fulltime position probational appointment; current classified permanent State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Work Schedule: This position will work 40 hours a week; travel and overtime may be required.
