Job Description: The Electrician in Maintenance at Tyson Foods' rendering plant is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electrical systems and equipment to support the plant's operations. This role requires expertise in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, as well as a strong commitment to safety and quality standards. The Electrician will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted production.
Responsibilities:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and components, including motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control panels.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and issues, diagnosing problems and implementing repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime.
Test electrical systems and components to identify faults, measure voltage, current, and resistance, and verify proper operation.
Follow electrical code, regulations, and safety standards in all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to schedule electrical maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and address urgent issues.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and repairs performed, recording data in logbooks and computerized systems.
Assist in the installation, setup, and calibration of new electrical equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.
Provide training and guidance to other maintenance personnel on electrical systems, maintenance techniques, and safety procedures.
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in electrical maintenance and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in electrical maintenance, industrial technology, or a related field preferred.
Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food processing industry.
Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with expertise in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards applicable to industrial environments.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and operational needs.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, lift heavy objects, and perform tasks at heights and in confined spaces.
