Maintenance and Automation Manager

Job Description:

This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and automation systems within the raw material quartz processing facility. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians and automation specialists, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of all equipment, and implementing strategies to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and enhance automation capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies, to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of all processing equipment.

Manage a team of maintenance technicians and automation specialists, providing leadership, guidance, and training to ensure their effectiveness and professional development.

Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including crushers, screens, conveyors, mills, and other processing equipment.

Manage the maintenance and reliability of mobile equipment including loaders, trucks, and rail equipment.

Implement and manage automation systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other control systems, to improve process efficiency, reduce manual labor, and enhance safety.

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for maintenance and automation tasks.

Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and system failures, and coordinate with operations and engineering teams to implement effective solutions.

Manage the spare parts inventory, ensuring that critical parts are readily available to minimize downtime.

Develop and manage the maintenance and automation budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies related to maintenance and automation activities.

Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Manage and oversee capital projects related to equipment upgrades, replacements, and automation enhancements.

Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize equipment design and performance.

Handle employee discipline as well as accomplishments.

Conduct semi-annual reviews for all direct employees

Escort vendors on site vendors

Additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance management, preferably in a mining, processing, or manufacturing environment.

3+ years of experience in managing and supervising maintenance teams.

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as automation control systems (PLCs, HMIs).

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and OSHA/MSHA requirements.

Ability to acquire and retain all necessary safety certifications

Experience with project management principles and practices.

Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles and practices.

Experience with inventory control systems and barcode scanning technology.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering discipline

Experience: 5+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance management setting

Physical Requirements: 

Work at varying heights, including on the rooftop of the buildings

Stand on feet for long periods of time during a shift for up to 12 hours, with intermittent breaks

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by Cambria 

Participate in daily stretch and flex exercises 

Work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions 

Walk up and down steps multiple times throughout shift 

Bend over multiple times throughout shift

Cambria’s starting salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hires for the position. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training.
