**CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe/Midrange Application Developer opening for our client in Remote.**
**Location:** Remote
**Duration:** 12 months
**Description:**
The Mainframe/Midrange Application Developer will be responsible for application development and support on specific Mainframe and Midrange platforms, excluding core mainframe (zOS) and midrange (System i) platforms. The role requires expertise in one or more platforms such as VM, TPF, Microfocus COBOL, Tandem, or HP-3000. The developer will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, efficient, and reliable solutions.
**Duties:**
+ Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on selected Mainframe/Midrange platforms (VM, TPF, Microfocus COBOL, Tandem, HP-3000).
+ Provide production support, troubleshooting, and resolution of application issues.
+ Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other developers to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
+ Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development best practices and standards.
+ Prepare technical documentation including system specifications, test plans, and deployment procedures.
+ Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and integration efforts.
+ Ensure compliance with security and data integrity policies.
**Skills:**
+ Strong proficiency in at least one Mainframe/Midrange environment (VM, TPF, Microfocus COBOL, Tandem, HP-3000).
+ Solid understanding of application development methodologies and best practices.
+ Proficiency in structured programming, debugging, and performance optimization.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
+ Familiarity with batch processing, job scheduling, and system utilities.
**Experience:**
+ Minimum 5 years of application development experience on Mainframe or Midrange platforms listed above.
+ Hands-on experience in both development and production support.
+ Experience with complex system integration and migration projects preferred.
+ Prior experience working in financial, healthcare, or similarly complex industries a plus.
**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 to $120,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
