Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer

Job Description:

CICS System Programmer:

Has a solid understanding of CICS Transaction Server system internals.

Has an understanding of Storage protection, Transaction isolation, and RENTPGM protection

Can independently complete building, configuring, and upgrading CICS Transaction Server regions 

Demonstrated experience with Inter-region communication methods such as MRO and ISC 

Demonstrated experience with installing and supporting vendor products that run within CICS.

Demonstrated experience with restoring service and problem resolution through troubleshooting and corrective/preventive actions.  

Have managed activities involving the coordination of multiple technical resources and groups.

Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and still maintain deadlines and milestones.

Self-starter having the ability to work independently and also as a team player

Experienced with the standard MVS tools:  TSO/ISPF, JCL, IBM Utilities, VSAM Utilities, SDSF, etc.

Have exposure to security packages (ACF2, RACF, and/or Top Secret)

Demonstrated experience with Disaster Recovery (backup and restore, DR plan creation and maintenance)

IBM Assembler language familiarity enough to be able to look at code and dumps and work/understand Exits  

24 x 7 on-call support rotation
