Mainframe Batch and Scheduling Specialist

As a Mainframe Batch and Scheduling Specialist, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing mainframe batch processing and job scheduling. You will ensure seamless and efficient execution of batch jobs, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with IT teams to maintain high availability and performance of critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and manage mainframe batch jobs and scheduling using [Scheduling Tools, e.g., CA-7, Control-M, TWS].

Troubleshoot and resolve batch processing issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Optimize job schedules for efficiency and resource utilization.

Collaborate with application support, development, and operations teams to enhance scheduling processes.

Document scheduling processes and update procedural manuals as required.

Ensure compliance with IT policies and audit requirements.

Perform capacity planning and performance analysis for mainframe scheduling.

Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum few years of experience in mainframe batch processing and job scheduling.

Proficiency with mainframe scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M, TWS).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Familiarity with mainframe environments (z/OS, JCL, SDSF, etc.).

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

Nice to Have:

Experience with automation and optimization of batch processes.

Knowledge of REXX, CLIST, or similar scripting languages.

ITIL Foundation certification.
