Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

Using prescribed procedures, will receive, check, handle, store, and prepare raw materials for manufacturing and finished goods for shipment to the customer. Prepare and issue raw materials for production areas and throughout Magna Engineered Glass. Ensures that all machines are kept supplied using multiple types of material handling equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties below will be performed at different degrees dependent upon the assigned area (Receiving, Shipping, or Floor).  The duties must be performed with a high degree of accuracy and concern for meeting our internal and external customer delivery requirements.  Responsibilities include hi-lo operation, material handling and inspection. This position is required to support manufacturing operations including overtime.

Practice and maintain safe work habits and conditions (using trailer jack, wheel chocks, personal protective equipment per company requirements, etc.) Follows daily hi-lo safety checklist.Passes MIOSHA test and follows all Magna and Federal rules and procedures for glass handling, material handling, and other safety procedures.Operates forklifts and other material handling equipment, promptly reporting any equipment malfunctions. Recharges batteries as needed. Must have mechanical aptitude to maintain equipment in good working order and report malfunctions to the supervisor.Review packing slips to confirm incoming shipments and deliveries; assess condition and quantity to identify any required follow-up actions.Transport raw materials and supplies from receiving area to warehouse or work-in-process areas (point of use storage areas).Follows production schedules in keeping materials and other supplies in flow:  Picks and delivers necessary component parts for each operation.Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with labeling procedures and stacking methods. Add extra identification where needed. Ensure pallet loads are correctly stacked, secured with bands and wraps, and loaded to prevent loss or damage during transit. Verify the completeness and accuracy of quantities, packaging, and labeling.Efficiently load and unload materials from trailers destined for multiple locations, ensuring proper sequencing and evenly distributed loads. Manage the storage and receipt of finished goods, rotating materials and supplies following FIFO (first in, first out) principles to minimize losses from obsolescence, deterioration, or damage.Assists support personnel with hi-lo and material/equipment movement as needed utilizing various material handling equipment such as sit-down, stand up, tugger, turret, etc.Maintain control of inventory processing to achieve 98+% inventory accuracy. Helps support daily cycle counting and identifies causes of inaccuracies. Operates required electronic inventory systems to ensure inventory accuracy and complete transactions timely and accurately.Proficient in utilizing QAD software, tablets, and handheld scanners for operational tasks.Collaborate with the operations team to bolster the manufacturing, shipping, and receiving departments, with a focus on collective team success rather than individual performance. This entails being mindful of each other's limitations and providing mutual assistance to ensure efficient material movement.

LEVEL 1 MATERIAL HANDLER (0128)

Skilled and certified in operating a stand-up forklift.Proficient in tugger operations.Possess a foundational understanding of production processes.Familiar with equipment operations at a basic level.Capable of working autonomously or collaboratively in a team environment.Knowledgeable about equipment safety practices and functionalities.Proficient in navigating QAD, using tablets, and operating handheld scanner.

LEVEL 2 MATERIAL HANDLER: (0128)

Skilled and certified in turret operations.Capable of locating and organizing inventory received from the shipping dock.Follows the material pick process for shop floor drivers and tuggers.Actively involved in problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.Possesses Level 1 skills.

LEVEL 3 MATERIAL HANDLER: (0699)

Fully trained and competent in all receiving dock responsibilities.Familiar with the escalation process for non-conforming products, including the Pink Slip process or SRJ.Capable of supporting training for both Level 1 and Level 2 positions.Possesses Level 1 and 2 skills.

LEVEL 4 MATERIAL HANDLER: (0699)

Execute all tasks necessary for shipping products.Familiar with each customer’s specific shipping requirements and proficient in navigating their portals as necessary.Possesses Level 1, 2, and 3 skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in material handling or a related field is preferred.Strong interpersonal skills with effective written and verbal communication abilities.Detail driven with a strong attention to maintaining accurate records.Must be able to complete approved lift truck training program and pass the retesting requirements every 3 years. Must have a demonstrated history of planning and following work schedules and procedures, working independently without direct supervision, and showcasing initiative and strong organizational skills.General math knowledge including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
