Machinist - Tool Setter - 3rd shift

The Tool Pre-Setter is responsible for product changes in the Machining department. This position supports operations by pre-setting, sharpening machine tools. Additionally, this role may troubleshoot general tool issues and, build/repair, and install tooling.

Job Duties include but not limited to:• Safety and Health – Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.• Re-sharpen different types of tooling (Hobs, Reamers, Drills, Endmills, etc.) with machine• Proper knowledge of tool sharpening (geometry, methods and terminology)• Pre-set and clean all tools to be used on three shifts production• Establish, organize and maintain a Kan-Ban system for all tools.• Help manufacturing engineer set or change order points and order quantities for all tool purchases• Order hand tools necessary (torx, allen, etc.) to set tools• Receive all tools coming into plant and place in Kan-Ban system• Track all tooling usage, identify and report abnormal or heavy use• Graph all tool inventory and location• Identify all obsolete tooling and its location and break down usable components from tooling no longer needed• Attend core team meetings as needed and report abnormal tooling problems.• Maintain pre-set room cleanliness and organization, every tool and cabinet labeled and, in its footprint, (5s)• Maintain sharpener machinery and gear measuring machine clean and organized• Identify proper levels of sister tooling and preset for use• Able to build tool packages from blueprints and alter tools from other tooling• Master preset machine and maintain all equipment in the preset room.• Help maintain all tooling documents and tool listings.• Identify and work on tooling cost saving initiatives across all machining departments.• Maintain, clean, and label all tooling carts• Train others how to set tools and re-sharpen tools• Maintain, control, and manage the repair of magnetic indicators for tool tramming• Maintain tooling spreadsheets.• Provide tool milk runs across all machining departments• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:• Stand/Sit for long periods of time.• Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs repetitively.• Stepping up and down off ladder and step stools.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.• Working in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Education:
High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree or higher preferred.
Experience:
Two-year degree or certification in Machine Tool Technology, or similar preferred. Minimum of one year manufacturing experience, preferably in machining or tool setting
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Inventory software; Excel, Outlook, and Word software’s.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Communication: Responds well to questions; Participates in meetings. Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
