JOB PURPOSE
Position Overview: The Machine Shop Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the machine and fitting shop, ensuring the efficient rebuild, Laboratory maintenance, and repair of pumps and related equipment. The coordinator will be responsible for managing personnel, workflow, and resources to meet production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management:
Oversee the scheduling and coordination of pump rebuilds, repairs, and maintenance tasks.Ensure that all work is completed on time and meets the required quality and safety standards.Manage inventory and procurement of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for workshop operations.PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
Supervise and provide leadership to a team of machinists, fitters, and other shop personnel.Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety procedures.Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and efficiency.Safety and Compliance:Enforce adherence to mine safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.Address any safety concerns or incidents promptly and implement corrective actions.Quality Control:Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that all rebuilds and repairs meet specified standards.Maintain accurate records of work performed and ensure proper documentation of all maintenance and repair activities.CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the workshop productivity and efficiency.Collaborate with other sections to optimize workflows and reduce downtime.Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to machine shop pumps rebuilt and Laboratory equipment maintenance.QUALIFICATIONS
Full Grade 12 Certificate.A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.Extensive experience in a machine shop and fitting shop, in the mining industry, with a focus on pump rebuilds and maintenance.Proven leadership and team management skills.Member of EIZ.Strong knowledge of machining, fitting, and pump repair techniques.Familiarity with mine safety regulations and quality control standards.Excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.PREFERRED SKILLS
Certification in pump maintenance and machining.Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.WORK ENVIRONMENT
