Finish Coater A operator is responsible for the safe operation of the roll coater in the Finish A room. Finish A coater is a single head coater. Duties include setting up the Coater, measuring painting parameters (wet film thickness, viscosity, temperature, roll speeds), adjusting the Coater following direction from QC Lab Tech, performing roll changes, cleaning painting equipment, moving paint drums in and out of the coater room, measuring and documenting paint usage information, entering data into Oracle.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Works from shop order, schedules, and special instructions. Responsible for keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at BlueScope Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals 

Education & Experience Qualifications  

 

Minimum: 

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) 

One year of Manufacturing Experience 

Knowledge of basic hand and power tools  

 

Preferred: 

6+ months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing environment 

Skills & Competencies  

Basic computer skills 

Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands 

Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands 

Good communication skills 

Mobile equipment operations skills
