Machine A Operator

Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION

Required to operate safely, filling and packaging equipment according to procedures given by the Team Lead. The ability to lead the line and assist in training when the Team Lead is not available. The shift is 3 PM -11 PM, Monday - Friday.

JOB DUTIES

Assures a safe and orderly work environment. Promotes and follows all Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality guidelines, policies and procedures.Report any safety and/or environmental incident immediately to the Working Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager.Performs manually and/or tends machines which perform various packaging functions such as, filling, labeling, packing, or closing containers.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.Responsible for machine adjustments, set-ups, changeovers, maintenance, cleaning and general operation of various filling and packaging machines.Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot, and train on the cardboard baler, plastic baler, carton erector, pallet jack, pick and place card/blister adjustments, taper/tape gun, and additional production equipment.Validates and organizes jobs in accordance with bill of materials and special work instructions based on current and future job orders.Responsible for conducting quality inspection of goods at the correct intervals, ensuring that product is packaged according to the work order with the expectation to identify and correct any quality issues.Assists in training assigned full time/temp operators and assists other teams as needed.Forklift experience required.Ability to communicate effectively and lead others.Coordinates and performs routine preventative maintenance of equipment.Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of production, labor and scrap incurred during the shiftMust have the ability to temporarily run manufacturing lines in the absence of a working supervisor and assist with MH, B, and C operator roles when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma/GED required.3-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment in a lead role; preferably automotive or bottling and packaging.Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English.Must have ability to perform simple math calculations.Must be computer literate.Must be certified to drive all types of forklift.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand; walk; climb; balance on moving vehicles in standing and sitting positions, operate mechanical moving equipment; and to hear. The employee is constantly exposed to vibration while operating mechanical equipment.  The employee is frequently required to bend; stoop; stand; handle; finger; feel; reach forward with arms; and talk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit; crouch; kneel; squat; and twist.  The employee must occasionally lift, push/pull, and or move up to 65 pounds.  The employee must possess the mandatory ability to react and move quickly in case of emergency.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus/accommodate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and machinery.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate and within acceptable levels.  Work is performed inside with moderate amounts of heat, cold and humidity encountered.  Inside work can be dirty, with adequate lighting and ventilation.  Conditions can include the presence of hazards such as flammable liquids, moving machinery and working around and with others.
