Our team enables other Apple frameworks and HI to create new ways for Mac users to interact with their systems by efficiently utilizing hardware acceleration and color technologies through compositing and display software. We are looking for a software engineer that is as passionate about system interaction and performance as we are, with a strong background in systems or OS framework engineering. **Description** This position is an opportunity to have a huge impact on Mac, contributing to the design and development of our UI software stack with a focus on system responsiveness, power efficiency, and quality. In this position, the code you develop will be involved every time a user interacts with their Mac. Our software stack spans from rendering and compositing of the applications co-existing in our UI along with the management of display configurations, down to submitting rendered UI frames to physical and virtual displays. You will be expected to dive into components across the Mac operating system to debug complicated rendering or performance issues. You will also be ensuring that low power paths, such as video playback and other light workloads use as little power as possible, helping to extend customer battery life. A careful eye for detail will be required, as you will be working on critical system components, where stability, performance, and low memory usage are critical. **Minimum Qualifications** + 5+ years of software development experience + BS or MS Degree or equivalent experience + Fundamentals on Operating Systems and Parallel Programming + Strong programming skills and experience with C/C+ **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience debugging difficult issues that involve multiple system components + Knowledge of or desire to learn Swift + Knowledge of system development and/or device driver development + Passion for root causing problems and finding the best solutions + Eagerness to work across multiple teams to make system improvements + Experience debugging performance and power problems + Excellent verbal and written communication skills **Pay & Benefits** At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
