Responsibilities:

- Receives direction from the supervisor and notifies the supervisor when more work is needed.
- Maintains the work area, machinery, and tools in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Follows all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines; and notifies the supervisor of any existing or potential safety issues.
- Follows all standard operating procedures and notifies the supervisor of potential procedural improvements.
- Assists in other work areas when the workload permits or requires.
- Cooperates with and supports co-workers and gets involved as a team player.
- Meets or exceeds the production standards for the position.
- Accurately, thoroughly, and legibly completes all documentation related to this position; i.e., production reports, accurate time keeping, etc.
- Observes closely the operation of tools and machinery and notifies the supervisor immediately of malfunctions or maintenance that may be needed.
- Monitors product constantly to ensure that quality standards are being met, and rejects product that does not meet quality standards.
- Participates in the decision as to which loads of lumber shall be inspected.
- Grades lumber manually by inspecting each board; restocking and documenting quality and quantity.
- Operates the infeed controls of the green system.
- Inspects each board on the green system and enters results in the computer.
- Completes grading reports thoroughly and accurately and submits reports to the supervisor.
- Performs light maintenance on the infeed system of the green system.
- Assists the Maintenance Department on major repairs on the green system.
- Performs related work as required.

What’s attractive about the Lumber Grader position?
Starting wage based on experience; Salary Range: $19.49 - $29.23 1st Shift Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, OT on Saturday as requiredQualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Minimum 9 months lumber grading experience; manufacturing environment preferred.
- Must have knowledge of hardwood lumber grades
- Math skills, including reading tape measure, digital calipers and converting fractions to decimals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Works safely and keeps work area clear of potential hazards.
