Job Summary

The LPS Merchant is responsible for managing all aspects of their assigned product categories, including internal and external factors that may impact the business. This role leads an Associate Merchant. The Merchant plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing product assortments within their assigned category, driving sales, enhancing customer satisfaction, and achieving overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Leads an Associate Merchant and assists with recruiting, selection, development, and performance management.Conducts market analysis to identify trends, competitor offerings, and customer localization opportunities to drive strategy for assigned product categories.Execute weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual product line reviews or business reviews to assess performance and align strategies.Provides feedback on product performance and customer feedback to senior leadership.Assists with the Request for Proposal(RFP)processEnsure product information is accurate and updated on the Lowes Pro Supply website and all marketing collateral.Attends industry and customer trade shows as well as supplier factory visits.Maintains industry expertise to stay aware of new trends/business to optimize product category success.  Responsible for maintaining strong, effective relationships with vendors, managing day to day operations.Collaborate with inventory, marketing, finance, and corporate merchants to drive product management initiatives and promotional strategies.Collaborates with Marketing team on visual presentation and creative development for product packing and promotions

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field or 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, retail  or a related field.Basic understanding of the market, product trends, and customer preferences relevant to their specific category.Experience with inventory management and monitoring sales performance, with an emphasis on operational efficiency.Ability to assist in analyzing data and providing insights to support decision-making.Effective communication skills for liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.Some exposure to negotiation processes but typically in more routine, transactional contexts.
