Responsibilities
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care to chronic and stabilized patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse; participates in each phase of the nursing process and may provide supervision to nurse aides; adheres to the performance standards established for this position. This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson.
Interviews patients and records their medical historyObtains and documents patient vital signs; reports abnormal findings promptlyAdministers and documents administration of treatments and medications within scope of practice; may administer oral, topical, and suppository medications; administer injections, infusions, and blood transfusions; start IVsVerifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accuratelyObserves and records patients’ conditions and reactions to medications and treatmentsServes as a liaison between physician and patient; shares information and reinforces education and instructions provided by the care providerParticipates in admission and discharge processPerforms and documents comprehensive patient assessmentsReviews and updates plan of care where applicableQualifications
Required Education and Experience
Completion of an accredited LPN program 1 year of experience preferredRequired Licensure and Certifications
LPN:ND;BLS-CPRRequired Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
