Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.

As the Logistics Technician, you will be the primary contact for several production facilities and/or purchased finished suppliers. You will be actively engaged with the Product Group, Account Managers, and internal customer to support superior service. These areas focus primarily on assurance of supply to ensure customer and dealer demand is met.

What You Will Do:

Performing work to achieve supply chain performance targets focused on backorders, estimated ship dates, supplier shipping performance (SSP), past due schedules, inventory and turns.  Recognizes software systems or components used to manage the supply chain (i.e., Microsoft Excel, materials requirement collaboration [MRC], SAP).Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.Execute schedule adjustments through collaboration, order min/mults, economic order quantity (EOQ’s), lost or misdirected shipments, transportation issues, advanced shipping notifications (ASN) issues, engineering change (E/C) level or material code changes, backorder escalation, and all other supplier issues impacting performance targets.Grief resolution.Product Group/Purchasing/Marketing and Dealer inquiries.Execute monthly supplier shipping performance process.Participate in all projects and meetings to support performance target improvements and operating profit after capital charges (OPACC) improvement initiatives.Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics Management.Strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with all process partners and customers at all levels.American Production and Inventory Control Society, Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (APICS CPIM) certification, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) national certification, or 6 Sigma project experience.Strong mathematical, critical thinking, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Experience with parts product structure, global purchasing and distribution practices.Knowledge of Caterpillar product structure and organization of Caterpillar parts information and technical information databases.Ability to accept increasing responsibility.

Summary Pay Range:

$71,040.00 - $106,440.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
