Job Title: Logistics Planning Technician
Salary: £33,800 rising to £37,500 when role goals are met
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Full Time: 37.50
The Opportunity
As a Logistics Planning Technician at Building Construction Products in Leicester, you will play a key role in supporting both the Logistics Planning and Logistics Operations teams across all product lines. You will develop, update, and document logistics processes which drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement—aligned with Caterpillar Production System (CPS) principles.
As a Logistics Planning Technician, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
Support logistics and production by helping with material flow, storage, and preparing for new products.
Follow and help improve standard work instructions using tools like Geneo, making sure they meet Caterpillar’s quality and production system standards.
Keep systems up to date, including entering and checking information in Glovia (our production planning system) to make sure materials and kits are routed correctly.
Help keep the workplace safe by supporting risk assessments and lift plans for new tasks or equipment.
Take part in improvement activities, like Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs), and help roll out better ways of working.
Follow all Health & Safety rules, complete any required training, and always work in a safe and responsible way.

What You Can Demonstrate:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create, edit, and interpret documents, spreadsheets, and presentations to support operational tasks.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organisation and contribute to shared goals and decision-making.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills, including the ability to assess data, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience in creating or updating Standard Work documents to Caterpillar Production System (CPS) standards, ensuring consistency and quality in operational processes.
What You May Have:
Holds British Safety Council Level 2 Risk Assessment training and/or CPS (Caterpillar Production System) Green Belt certification, demonstrating a strong commitment to workplace safety, risk awareness, and continuous improvement in safety-related processes.
Possesses a relevant NVQ Level 2 or higher, or an equivalent qualification, supporting technical knowledge and hands-on capability in a production environment.
Previous hands-on experience with Glovia, particularly in creating and maintaining routing data, is desirable for supporting accurate material and production planning.
