LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the INDUSTRIAL SUPPORT DEPARTMENT, SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING NEWPORT NEWS (SUBSHIPNN) INTEGRATED LOGISTICS SUPPORT (ILS) DIVISION of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will perform analyses and evaluations of design, configuration, and engineering changes for major components of new/extensively modified equipment systems. You will identify ILS program planning and execution problems and provide recommendations and options to resolve conflicting program requirements. You will support the NEWCON and RCOH processes by providing and coordinating ILS aspects related to equipment alterations and installations during Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability. You will compile metrics and analyze trends of alteration/ship change installation efforts and make recommendations to higher authority on process improvement. You will identify logistics support requirements for systems or equipment installed on board ships undergoing NEWCON, modernization, conversion or repair. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing knowledge of Navy Logistics and ILS Management principles, concepts, and methodology related to complex ILS NEWCON and modernization shipbuilding projects. Specialized experience may include some or all of the following: 1) Creating innovative solutions to business problems by modifying standard ILS practices and procedures to solve a variety of ILS issues; 2) Analyzing and evaluating design, configuration, and engineering changes for major components of new/extensively modified equipment systems; 3) Making decisions on matters concerning the interpretation of considerable scheduling of work or methods and techniques to be used to identify logistics support requirements for systems or equipment installed on board ships undergoing NEWCON, modernization, conversion, or repair; 4) Implementing an effective program for procurement, coordinating, tracking, and distributing the Planning Yard, Design Agent, and Shipbuilder Logistics Technical Data (LTD); 5) Coordinating objectives and plans to provide technical support, advice and assistance to specialized supply programs; 6) Developing and implementing corrective action plans to adjust operations to facilitate adequate logistics support.
