Summary: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of freight in a cost-efficient, accurate and timely manner. The person in this role will manage internal freight movement via a hub and spoke model to our 3 distribution centers/affiliates, as well as flawless execution to our external customers. This role will operate on-site. 

 

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

Works jointly with local cartage agents/draymen and freight forwarder / customs broker to coordinate the arrival and delivery of inbound import ocean/cross border and domestic containers to the operations teams.  Manage daily container flow to meet receiving capacity, avoiding per diem, demurrage, and storage charges, utilizing DC yard inventory reporting/trucker reporting and or carrier TMS visibility platforms and websites. Ensures full compliance with company carrier selection, network, customer compliance guides and troubleshoots any delivery orders that do not comply for standard shipping practices.Reviews/monitors all inbound/outbound daily, weekly, and monthly carrier and partner reporting to assure compliance with corporate logistics processes, procedures, and SOPs. Tracks and traces container movement from origin suppliers to destination ports to ensure arrival of inventory on scheduled purchase order dates providing available to promise (ATP) dates to our customersManages and documents any, and all communication, from sales and customer service and resolves shipment issues while providing responsive follow-up to sales and operations management teams upon resolution. Also responsible for escalation of orders to customer service and sales to ensure end to end flow of shipments. Pro-actively traces shipments to support end of month, end of the quarter, yearend transactions, and other critical orders on an as needed basis to support customer fulfillment demands.Investigates and approves carrier freight quote/ freight costs that differ from contractual pricing agreements and quotes.  Document/Track Spot Freight cost, including but not limited to Volume, Expedites and Truckload shipments. Assists Operations with the routing and scheduling of large shipments, shipments requiring expediting and/or shipments requiring special pickup and delivery needs.   Acts as carrier escalation for timely freight disposition inquiries and approval of special service requests to avoid delivery delays. Reports, tracks and follows up with the carriers and operations on quality issues affecting shipment integrity.  Works with operations to improve shipment quality standards and identifies practices contributing to customer service issues.  Audits invoices based on carrier contracts to approve in freight audit systems

 

Competencies:

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent MS Office, with specific experience with ExcelEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to formulate questions and investigate issues without direct guidanceAbility to interact with service providers and internal customers tactfully and productivelyStrong organization skill with ability to self-start and work independentlyEnsure compliance to workplace policies according to safety objectives and procedures

 

Education and Experience:

1-2 years of experience required in operations, shipping, receiving, logistics and/or transportationCollege degree in Logistics, Business, or related area and or comparable demonstrated experience preferredExperience with SAP is preferred but not required  Internet tracking and TMS systems

Pursuant to New York law, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare provides a salary range in job advertisements. The pay rate for this role is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour. The provided salary range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits which may be offered to the applicant, if eligible according to the company’s policies.
