Logistics Clerk
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Logistics Clerk to join our team in Chester, South Carolina. This Contract-to-Permanent position involves coordinating logistics operations, managing truck shipments, and ensuring smooth communication between drivers, suppliers, and operations personnel. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining inventory levels and keeping transportation schedules on track. Responsibilities: • Operate truck scales to accurately weigh inbound and outbound shipments. • Generate and distribute required paperwork, such as Bills of Lading and packing slips, using NetSuite. • Schedule and oversee inbound and outbound truck loads, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. • Communicate effectively with drivers and owner-operators to coordinate daily load schedules. • Collaborate with operations staff to address and resolve traffic flow issues in the yard. • Monitor inventory levels to ensure shipments are fulfilled and coordinate with suppliers for pickups. • Track landfill shipments, ensuring the appropriate number of trucks are dispatched daily. • Liaise with transport providers to ensure they meet daily hauling requirements and address any concerns. • Keep NetSuite records updated with shipment details, sales orders, and inbound contract data. • Stay informed on sales and contract statuses to proactively schedule shipments and pickups. Requirements • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics operations is preferred. • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word; willingness to learn company-specific software. • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in a detail-oriented environment. • Ability to learn and operate NetSuite software for logistics and inventory management. • Familiarity with trucking and railroad logistics processes is a plus. • Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. • Knowledge of logistics industry practices and shipping functions.
