JSG is seeking a Import/Export Specialist for our client in Santa Clarita, CA.  The Import/Export Specialist will assist in the development, implementation, and administration of programs to ensure compliance with U.S. Export/Import regulations as outlined by the Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other regulatory agencies

Pay Rate:$35.00 HR


 
Responsibilities:
  Will assist in establishing and maintaining an export/import control infrastructure and processes in accordance with ITT Connect & Control Technologies’ requirements.  Facilitate business within the scope of the regulations and applicable policies and procedures.  Assist in implementing training programs and providing guidance to all functional areas related to import and export activities.  Drive new compliance procedures and training requirements with document updates.  Ensures restricted party screening is conducted on all transactions, to include all business partners.  Work closely with freight forwarders and customs brokers on a regular basis and ensures timely shipments and imports.  Assures data export controls with vendors, visitors, and foreign travel.  Supports development, implementation, and maintenance of trade compliance records.  Analyze and classify parts and components for EAR/ITAR and HTS/Schedule B #’s with support from the applicable functional areas (for client designed goods), customers (for build-to-print designs) or vendors (for purchased non-client designs.)  Ensure classifications and country of origin are loaded into the ERP system.  Assist in developing an audit program for improving compliance activities.  Work closely with the trade team for cross-border activity for operations in Mexico, to ensure compliant exports/imports to both countries.  Facilitate contact to/from other trade members to the applicable internal SME (example: connect corporate compliance with accounting personnel for reconciliation.)  Additional trade-related duties may be added as time/experience permits.  Focus will be on the local site export/import activities, however cross-site participation may be required.

Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.  Interact effectively with a wide variety of personalities (i.e., internal and external customers, etc.).  Manage a multi-task job and appropriately adjust priorities.  Interpret and apply policies and procedures appropriately.  Produce accurate and detailed work. 
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF: 
  Domestic and international traffic procedures and requirements.  Domestic and international transportation methods and vendors.  PC operations and Microsoft Office products.  Data entry, basic accounting and math functions, weights and measurements (both standard and metric).    Experience with [some or all of] the FTR, ITAR, EAR, ATFE, Census, AES, CBP ACE, and OFAC regulations.  JSG offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance options, short-term disability, 401(k), weekly pay, and more.
