Loan Sales Americas

Contribute to BBVA’s efforts in the Americas from the perspective of loan sales of PF/Infrastructure, Corporate and CRE transactions reporting into the US and Latam Loan Syndicate, Sales & Trading (“LSST”) teams.Work closely with the Americas based origination, syndicate and portfolio management teams to identify the most efficient distribution channels (e.g. bank, NBFIs, insurance) and to achieve best executionDevelop new and maintain existing investor relationships across the region.Collaborate with the loan syndicate teams to perform market soundings and to achieve successful syndication of the transactions underwritten

Key Responsibilities:

Loan Sales Responsibilities

Supporting the origination and syndicate teams in their loan underwriting activity.Accompany the bank’s Originate to Distribute strategy leveraging their investor knowledgeInvestor Coverage: Non-bank Financial Institutions and bank investors for CRE, Project Finance debt and all asset classes in the AMERICASExecution and closing of primary and secondary trades for underwritten positions, the banking book and the loan trading bookBeing one of the bank’s main point of contact for purchases and sales of performing loans as well as sales of non-performing loansSharing market knowledge with the origination, client coverage and portfolio teamsCoordinating with different units of the bank (client coverage, origination, legal, debt advisory, compliance, back-office, new business) to ensure the performance of the above tasksMaintaining regular contact (meetings, calls, written communication) with investorsEnsuring timely and accurate recording of investor activity, trading and appetite

Execution

Performing market soundings and giving pricing and liquidity feedback for new issuesHolding regular meetings with investors “new and prospective” to strengthen relationships and generate reverse enquiriesAttending market events to be updated with the latest market developments and to enhance the profile of the bankParticipating in calls and meetings with the LSST teams and other departments in order to share knowledge of investors’ lending appetite, activity and investment trendsDefining the list of investors (and Non-Payment Insurance as appropriate) in the syndication process with SyndicateCoordinating with onboarding and counterparty limit teams to ensure all investors are KYC’d and have settlement limits available for any particular tradeStaying informed of the latest loan market developments, including alternative distribution methods, such as Non-Payment Insurance, loan repackaging,

Fostering cross-selling of CIB products.Overseeing and contributing in internal and external administrative tasks.

Previous experience

At least 6 years of experience in loans sales and/or trading, preferably project finance, leveraged finance and corporate loans to banks and NBFIs.Candidates from investment banks, advisory firms, commercial banks will be most relevant to this role.

Languages and technical knowledge

Fluency in English (oral and written)Proficiency in Spanish is a plusDebtdomain, Bloomberg and MS Suite

Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently negotiate with senior stakeholders.Team player but also comfortable working independently with limited supervision when needed.Multi-tasker and able to work under time pressure.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $220,000 to $240,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
