THE ROLE
Food restaurant purchase/receiver assistant supports the food restaurant purchase/receiver in managing the procurement and receiving of food and beverage items for a restaurant. Their role is to assist with various tasks to ensure smooth operations in the purchasing and receiving process. Some of their responsibilities may include:
Responsibilities:
Order coordination: Assisting with placing orders for food and beverage items based on inventory levels and menu requirements. This may involve communicating with suppliers, checking product availability, and updating purchase orders.Documentation and record-keeping: Assisting with maintaining accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and inventory levels. This may include data entry, filing purchase orders and invoices, and organizing documentation for easy retrieval.Receiving and inspection support: Assisting with the receiving and inspection of delivered food and beverage items. This may involve checking quantities, verifying product quality, and assisting with resolving any discrepancies or issues.Inventory management support: Assisting with inventory management tasks, such as updating inventory records, conducting stock counts, and monitoring expiration dates. This helps ensure accurate inventory levels and proper stock rotation.Communication and collaboration: Assisting with communication and coordination between the purchase/receiver, kitchen staff, and suppliers. This may involve relaying information about order changes, delivery schedules, and any special requests or issues.Organization and storage support: Assisting with organizing and maintaining storage areas for food and beverage items Clean and organize. This may involve labeling, arranging products according to FIFO principles, and ensuring proper storage conditions are maintained.Assistance with compliance: Supporting the purchase/receiver in adhering to health and safety regulations and food safety standards. This may include following proper handling and storage procedures, as well as assisting with regular inspections and audits.Miscellaneous tasks: Clean/organize coolers ,assisting with other administrative tasks related to purchasing and receiving, such as maintaining supplier contact information, researching new suppliers, and assisting with cost analysis or budgeting.The specific tasks and responsibilities of a food restaurant purchase/receiver assistant may vary depending on the needs of the restaurant and the specific role assigned by the purchase/receiver.
Qualifications:
Required:
1-3 years previous experience purchasing/receiving experience
Must be able to lift 50 lbs waist high and with the aid of hand truck
High School Diploma
Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
Preferred:
Previous experience in a high volume facility
Previous Retail, Restaurant or Music Hall accounting experience
College Degree
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Work environment is fast-paced
Lifting of up to 50 lbs
Frequent requirements to bend, stoop, lift and move heavy objects
Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and reaching
Tolerance of loud noises
