How You'll Contribute:
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Live Events Technician with a passion for competitive gaming and live production. In this role, you'll support the setup, operation, and breakdown of live eSports tournaments, gaming events, and broadcasts—ensuring flawless integration of audiovisual, networking, and game systems. You’ll be the go-to expert on the ground, helping bring immersive gaming experiences to both in-person audiences and global livestream viewers.
What You'll Do:
1. Event Setup & Operation
Install, configure, and support gaming rigs, player stations, switchers, video walls, audio consoles, and lighting. Install and configure AV equipment including microphones, speakers, video projectors, LED walls, cameras, lighting fixtures, and media servers. Run and manage live shows, operating soundboards, video switchers, lighting consoles, or playback systems as needed. Follow event production plans, cue sheets, and scripts for seamless execution.2. Technical Troubleshooting & Support
Provide on-the-spot diagnostics and resolution for equipment or signal issues during live events. Provide real-time tech support during events for player hardware, comms, and broadcast feeds. Troubleshoot AV issues, PC and console setups, network latency, and peripheral failures. Maintain technical quality across all feeds Provide on-the-spot diagnostics and resolution for equipment or signal issues during live events. Ensure all systems (audio, video, lighting, power) are functioning correctly and safely throughout the event. Collaborate with stage managers, producers, and clients to quickly adapt to real-time needs.3. Equipment Maintenance & Logistics
Maintain, test, and prep equipment including PCs, monitors, audio gear, cameras, and controllers. Assist with load-ins, load-outs, and shipping logistics for national and international events. Keep detailed documentation of event setups, diagrams, and system configs. Maintain and prepare gear before and after events, including testing, labeling, and inventory tracking. Assist in loading/unloading, transport, and storage of production equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance and report damaged or faulty gear for repair.4. Venue & Client Coordination
Interface with venue staff, clients, and vendors to coordinate setup and technical requirements. Work closely with tournament organizers, broadcast engineers, network admins, and players. Ensure safe cabling, power management, and ADA-compliant installations.What You'll Bring:
Education:
Associate’s degree or technical training in AV production, broadcast engineering, or IT preferred.Experience:
2+ years in live production, gaming events, or competitive eSports support.Technical Skills:
Proficiency with audio systems (analog and digital consoles), video systems (switchers, projectors, LED walls), and stage lighting. Knowledge of signal flow, cabling standards, DMX, Dante, SDI/HDMI, and wireless coordination. Proficient in PC and console setup (Windows optimization, input device config, capture solutions). Experience with AV routing, video switchers (Blackmagic, Roland), audio consoles, and Dante. Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, LAN setup, latency mitigation). Experience with streaming platforms and tools
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and time management skills. Comfortable in high-pressure, fast-paced event environments. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work flexible hours, including nights/weekends/travel. Team-oriented with a client-service mindset and clear communication under pressure. Willingness to work weekends, and adapt to variable schedulesPreferred Certifications:
Dante Level 1 or 2 AVIXA CTS CompTIA Network+ or equivalent Gaming hardware certifications (ASUS, MSI, NVIDIA, etc. – a plus)
