ResponsibilitiesFor workers’ compensation claims in assigned jurisdiction(s) with focus on claim resolution and avoiding unnecessary litigation expenses.
Key Functions will include but not be limited to:
Review and evaluate claims entering litigation for settlement and/or resolutionPrepare settlement evaluationsCoordinate necessary exchange of documentation with plaintiff’s counsel pre-mediationPrepare for and attend mediations, both mandatory and voluntaryCoordinate preparation and review of settlement documentationKeep abreast of all arising workers compensation case law, rules and regulations for jurisdiction(s) assignedRecommend or assist in developing timely and effective plans for issue and claims resolution that may eliminate the need for counselEnsure evidence exists to support the legal position and litigation planAssist in the development of a counsel referral method that promotes effective outcomes and minimizes or controls litigation costsWhen referral to panel counsel is necessary, ensure high quality service and effective resolution planGeneral oversight of panel counsel in assigned jurisdictionsTimely notify supervisor of all legal issues and claims handling issuesEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with claims staff, supervisors, providers and other departments within Key RiskDemonstrate the use of tact and discretion in all communications Qualifications Bachelors degreeJuris doctorate with active attorney license in Georgia and/or Florida5 plus years of experience in adjudicating workers compensation claimsAbility to research, learn, retain and accurately apply knowledge of Workers Compensation Act and rules/regulations in jurisdiction(s) assignedExcellent oral and written communicationsPossess analytical, critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting agencies or firms.The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
