Job Title: Legal Assistant - Commercial Litigation

We are a dynamic and well-established commercial law firm located in Royal Oak, Michigan, focused on delivering high-quality legal services to businesses and institutions. Our team is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our litigation attorneys in all aspects of case management and legal operations.
Provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys in commercial litigation matters
Prepare, draft, proofread, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
Manage e-filing of legal documents in both state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with all deadlines and formatting requirements
Maintain and organize case files, discovery, correspondence, and trial documents using document management systems
Coordinate attorney calendars, schedule meetings, depositions, court dates, and client appointments
Arrange attorney travel and manage travel itineraries
Track time entries and assist with billing processes
Perform legal research and manage litigation databases
Monitor and manage case deadlines and docketing
Required Skills & Qualifications:Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in commercial litigation
E-filing: Proficient with electronic filing in Michigan state courts and federal courts (PACER/CM/ECF systems)
Software Proficiency:
Microsoft Word (advanced formatting skills required)
Outlook (email and calendar management)
Document management software (e.g., NetDocuments, iManage, or similar)
Billing software (e.g., Timeslips, Clio, or similar)
Docketing and legal calendar software (e.g., CompuLaw, CourtAlert)
Litigation databases (e.g., Relativity, LexisNexis, Westlaw)
Technical Skills:
Typing speed of 70+ WPM with high accuracy
Strong legal research and fact-checking skills
Competency in drafting legal documents with minimal supervision
Skilled in managing large volumes of discovery and document production
Organizational Skills:
Excellent file and case management practices
Proven ability to handle email correspondence, prioritize tasks, and manage attorney calendars efficiently
Experience coordinating complex travel and litigation schedules
