Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. 

We currently have an opportunity for a Wintel Technician in Canberra to work on a fast-paced technical delivery project.   

What You’ll Do 

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including: 

Design, deploy, and maintain complex Windows server environments (Wintel) with a focus on stability, performance, and security.Install, configure, and manage Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), Endpoint Security (ENS), and Application Control (Solidcore).Develop and enforce endpoint security policies aligned with organizational requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Wintel infrastructure and Trellix platforms.Serve as a subject matter expert in gateway technologies, including firewalls, proxies, and secure web gateways.

 
What You’ll Bring  

Your experience includes supporting the build, configuration, and optimisation of Wintel environments. You are comfortable troubleshooting and resolving complex system and infrastructure issues. Confidently perform routine system administration, patching, backup, and performance tuning. Implementation and maintenance of security controls in line with Defence standards are front of mind.  Sustainability focuses on documenting key system configurations, processes, and support procedures. 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 2 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
