Job Description

Responsibilities

Carry out Patching on Linux Servers monthly to ensure it is completely timely and with appropriate expertiseAssist with the design, development, testing and implementation operational on-premises physical and virtual Red Hat and OracleLinux server based infrastructure within defined time scalesGain an understanding of the applications that run on the Windows server estate and their network connectivitySupport Linux environments across development, test, pre-production and production landscapeProactively monitor, report, troubleshoot, escalate and resolve technical issues with the Linux estateAssist with migration of server environmentsIdentify, prioritise and resolve Linux server issuesWork with the Application Support team to resolve support issuesPerform Linux and system maintenance activities as requiredLog support requests with third-party vendors as required and manage them through to resolutionAdhere to customer policies, guidelines and standards in relation to the Linux Server Operating System

Qualifications3-5 years’ experience implementing, supporting and administering Red Hat and Oracle Linux Server environmentsExperience patching Linux and providing support/troubleshootingExperience of Linux Servers in a VMware and Oracle Virtualisation environmentsImplementation of Linux patches and upgrades including Red Hat Repositories and Red Hat Subscription ManagementExperience of managing and administering 24x7 Linux Server environmentsExperience of data centre management: server racking, stacking , cablingExperience edge of Linux hardware and software monitoring toolsets such as NagiosExperience of Linux server backup and recovery procedures especially CommvaultExperience of Linux server security configuration and operationGood working knowledge of a range of database management, server different operating systems and network configurationsKnowledge of shell scripting
