Linehaul Assistant II - Supervisory
Job Description The Linehaul Supervisor Assistant works as a team member to assist and support the linehaul operations management in the oversight and directing of linehaul drivers, dispatch area, and yard employees. This position helps maximize profitability and business growth, as well as provide superior customer service. The Linehaul Supervisor Assistant also works with management to meet all linehaul operation goals. Responsibilities * Assist in the audit of road driver logs. * Address issues involving customer relations and/or other ABF service centers. * Track Time Critical shipments. * Communicate with contractual and supervisory personnel on service center and company policies and procedures, and utilize feedback to promote teamwork and employee morale. * Assist in absenteeism tracking for road drivers. * Monitor pull failures and report to linehaul manager. * Assist with supervision, including yard checks. * Cover vacations and absences in the linehaul supervisor capacity. * Verify ELD Compliance is maintained (violations, missing hours in Peoplenet, and miles without hours). * Other duties, as assigned. * Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals. * Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment. * Enforce company policy and procedures, and continually apply the quality process. * Ensure security, maintenance, and upkeep of terminal facility. * Address unproductive or problem employees and discharge contractual employees after performing due diligence. * Apply contract labor rules to contractual employees, and maintain labor relations with input and support of Branch Manager and Manager of Line Operations. * Maximize equipment efficiency and utilization, and reduce operating cost per mile. * Ensure contractual employees shifts are adequately supervised, and fill in for absent, supervisors, as necessary. * Work with Regional Maintenance Superintendent to facilitate equipment maintenance and repairs. * Assist leadership to motivate, counsel, coach, and discipline contractual employees. Requirements Education: * High School Diploma / GED, preferred Experience: * Prior transportation or supervisory experience, preferred Computer Skills: * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required Competencies: * Capacity Planning & Management * Decision Making and Critical Thinking * Effective Communications * Initiative * Productivity Orientation * Transportation Operations Other Details Work Hours: * Generally, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional irregular hours depending on workload. Compensation: * This is a salary position paid biweekly. * Variable compensation is included.
