JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for leading their department on a day-to-day basis, managing workflow, making daily decisions, reaching daily production numbers, maintaining and enhancing productivity as well as ensuring a successful environment for employees.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES·
+ Working with your team while providing leadership to the department
+ Communication with your team is essential:
+ Must be able to clearly state your objectives/assignments for the department
+ Approach staff with respect as well as leadership
+ Uphold the company’s standard of conduct
+ Tracking metrics for the department(s) is required (both to report to Supervisor, as well as at production meetings); must be prepared with all information on a daily basis
+ Continuously monitoring production results and adjust resources accordingly to consistently achieve goals
+ Must be able to reassign staff, as needed, to cover PTO
+ Extend department coverage in the event another lead is out on PTO
+ Actively leading department processes to ensure all products meet/exceed established quality standards
+ Driving compliance to FDA, ISO and Company requirements
+ Championing efforts to comply with all safety, quality and operational documentation requirements and practices
+ Recommending to supervisor when overtime is needed
+ All overtime must be pre-approved by either Supervisor or Operations Director
+ Staging workflow within the department:
+ Must be able to stage/coordinate work in progress
+ Must be able to ensure First In First Out (FIFO) according to job creation date
+ Documenting/rejected devices not on approved list
+ Staging/sorting/organizing/documenting job orders
+ Monitoring/maintaining all testing equipment
+ Meeting or exceeding production performance expectations
+ Must continually check/monitor work flow throughout shift/department
+ Must co-ordinate job orders/work flow
+ Must be able to consistently track Job Orders/Devices, both via reporting and direct on the floor observation
+ Managing the performance of non-exempt team members to include:
+ Documenting all Quality, Productivity, Behavior and Safety items in the tracker
+ Writing and participating in delivering performance improvement plans (PIPs)
+ Providing appropriate positive recognition when warranted
+ Developing employees
+ Informing supervisor of performance & attendance issues
+ Assisting supervisor in day-to-day production activities
+ Writing performance reviews (with Supervisor approval)
+ Ability to provide weekend overtime shift coverage as needed
+ Ability to work across three shifts as business needs determine
+ Conducting Employee training within the department as required
+ Ensuring the efficient use of materials/supplies within the department
+ Fostering relationships with internal customers (Other Leads, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, etc.) to gain perspective and effectiveness when dealing with Operations issues
+ Participating in problem-solving and recommending process improvements with other internal customers
+ Assist with training and qualifying other team members to perform a variety of processes and operations
+ Actively participating in and acting as “point of contact”, for all Environmental Health & Safety related matters within the department
+ Willingness to be forklift certified if necessary
+ Committed to building a positive culture
+ Other responsibilities may be assigned & not all responsibilities listed may be assigned
+ POLICIES: Know and follow policies and procedures and assure that direct reports know & follow policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility
+ TRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility and assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments and for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training and assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as environmental health & safety
+ SAFETY: Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize and reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & insure that safety is a part of each direct report’s performance appraisal.
Education & Experience Requirements
+ Prior experience within the department is preferred
+ Prior experience in the medical device industry is preferred
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office
+ Ability to contribute to the development of team and organizational objectives, to motivate self and others to achieve goals while taking ownership in the work
+ Demonstrated ability to lead others
+ Knowledge of “Good Manufacturing Processes”
+ Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing preferred
+ Basic knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations
+ Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities
+ Strong time management skills
+ Ability to read, write, and understand English
+ Ability to do basic mathematics (department metrics, etc)
+ Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people and to promote teamwork/collaboration
+ Ability to learn quickly and to identify, logically analyze, and solve work related problems
+ Ability to work with little or no supervision
+ Ability to keep confidential information
+ Ability to recognize opportunity to flex employees in department to other departments
+ Ability to work overtime on a daily basis
+ Ability to develop an overall understanding of process flow and resources within the organization
+ Ability to maintain high work standards and concern for the quality of work; to work reliably and responsibly to improve daily
+ Ability to function independently as well as part of a team
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements Needed to Perform Position Functions
+ Lifts/carries up to 50 lbs
+ Pushes/pulls up to 20 lbs.
+ Occasional bend up to 30 degrees, twist/turn, overhead reach, ladder/stair climb and rotate activities/positions
+ Stands/walks frequently (34-66% of the time)
+ Torqueing/crimping, grasping-light, out-stretched arms, and keystrokes with both arms/hands
The hourly pay range for this role is $21.44 - $38.61. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
