JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading their department on a day-to-day basis, managing workflow, making daily decisions, reaching daily production numbers, maintaining and enhancing productivity as well as ensuring a successful environment for employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with your team while providing leadership to the departmentCommunication with your team is essential:Must be able to clearly state your objectives/assignments for the departmentApproach staff with respect as well as leadershipUphold the company’s standard of conductTracking metrics for the department(s) is required (both to report to Supervisor, as well as at production meetings); must be prepared with all information on a daily basisContinuously monitoring production results and adjust resources accordingly to consistently achieve goalsMust be able to reassign staff, as needed, to cover PTOExtend department coverage in the event another lead is out on PTOActively leading department processes to ensure all products meet/exceed established quality standardsDriving compliance to FDA, ISO and Company requirementsChampioning efforts to comply with all safety, quality and operational documentation requirements and practicesRecommending to supervisor when overtime is neededAll overtime must be pre-approved by either Supervisor or Operations DirectorStaging workflow within the department:Must be able to stage/coordinate work in progressMust be able to ensure First In First Out (FIFO) according to job creation dateDocumenting/rejected devices not on approved listStaging/sorting/organizing/documenting job ordersMonitoring/maintaining all testing equipmentMeeting or exceeding production performance expectationsMust continually check/monitor work flow throughout shift/departmentMust co-ordinate job orders/work flowMust be able to consistently track Job Orders/Devices, both via reporting and direct on the floor observationManaging the performance of non-exempt team members to include:Documenting all Quality, Productivity, Behavior and Safety items in the trackerWriting and participating in delivering performance improvement plans (PIPs)Providing appropriate positive recognition when warrantedDeveloping employees          Informing supervisor of performance & attendance issuesAssisting supervisor in day-to-day production activitiesWriting performance reviews (with Supervisor approval)Ability to provide weekend overtime shift coverage as neededAbility to work across three shifts as business needs determineConducting Employee training within the department as requiredEnsuring the efficient use of materials/supplies within the departmentFostering relationships with internal customers (Other Leads, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, etc.) to gain perspective and effectiveness when dealing with Operations issuesParticipating in problem-solving and recommending process improvements with other internal customersAssist with training and qualifying other team members to perform a variety of processes and operationsActively participating in and acting as “point of contact”, for all Environmental Health & Safety related matters within the departmentWillingness to be forklift certified if necessaryCommitted to building a positive cultureOther responsibilities may be assigned & not all responsibilities listed may be assignedPOLICIES: Know and follow policies and procedures and assure that direct reports know & follow policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibilityTRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility and assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period.  Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments and for implementation of new policies & procedures.  Complete required periodic re-training and assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as environmental health & safetySAFETY: Set standards for safe behavior.  Recognize and reward safe behavior in others.  Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices.  Enforce safety policies & procedures.  Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & insure that safety is a part of each direct report’s performance appraisal.

Education & Experience Requirements

Physical Requirements Needed to Perform Position Functions 

Lifts/carries up to 50 lbsPushes/pulls up to 20 lbs.Occasional bend up to 30 degrees, twist/turn, overhead reach, ladder/stair climb and rotate activities/positionsStands/walks frequently (34-66% of the time)Torqueing/crimping, grasping-light, out-stretched arms, and keystrokes with both arms/hands

The hourly pay range for this role is $21.44 - $38.61. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
