Primary Responsibilities:  + Provide high‑quality nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and medical stability throughout their stay. + Support recovery and post‑operative care for patients following surgical, imaging, and procedural interventions. + Administer prescribed treatments, including medications, IV fluids, nutritional support, wound care, and physical therapy exercises as directed. + Place and manage indwelling catheters, including central lines, PICC lines, peripheral catheters, and urinary catheters. + Collecting diagnostic samples, imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to Veterinarian. + Assist with patient preparation and positioning for imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound) or procedures as needed. + Obtaining and performing orders from Veterinarians for inpatient treatments and hospitalizations while understanding all the steps associated with hospitalization including IV Catheter placement, fluid therapy, creating electronic treatment sheets, calculating, and administering required medications, and calculating and administering fluid bolus requirements . + Assist in placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, nasogastric tubes, central lines, JP drains, thoracic tubes, and esophageal feeding tubes . + Assist Veterinarians in all aspects during surgical procedures from developing anesthetic protocol, administration of pre-medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance and monitoring of general anesthesia, assist in surgical procedure as needed, recovery care of patients post anesthetic episodes, proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring, and understanding side effects of anesthetic agents being administered . + Understanding and able to follow protocol when administering and documenting controlled substances administered to patients . + Calculate, create, and administer constant rate infusions such as Dopamine CRIs, Fentanyl CRIs, Lidocaine CRIs, and more . + Able to perform blood typing, crossmatches, set up for transfusions, and understanding clinical signs of transfusion related reactions . + Practicing patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as when triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients . + Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners . + Understanding and able to perform proper medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policy and the board of veterinary medical standards . + Assisting Veterinary Assistants in completion of End of Shift checklists to properly prepare for your relieving teams’ success on shift, including restocking, logging controlled substances, cleaning kennels, vacuuming, and mopping . + Conducting yourself in a professional manner each shift while providing continued support to your team members, patients, and clients . + Following proper OSHA protocols and ensure OSHA related trainings are conducted by designated timelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and team members . + Collaborate with specialty services (Neurology, Surgery, Anesthesia, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology) to carry out care plans and facilitate ongoing diagnostics. + Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked inpatient ward and treatment area. + Provide low‑stress handling, comfort care, and emotional support to both patients and their owners. + Prepare patients for discharge, including review of at‑home care instructions and medication plans. + Assist with patient transfers to and from ER or other specialty services in a timely, organized, and medically appropriate manner. + Participate in medical rounds and hand‑offs with ER and specialty teams to ensure continuity of care. + Alert the DVM to any changes in patient status, including but not limited to pain levels, vital sign fluctuations, and unexpected clinical findings. + Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership and direct supervisors while on shift. Compensation: + Compensation is based on experience and skill set. + 7a-7p shift: Starting at $35/hr + 12p-12a shift (Friday-Sunday): Starting at $35/hr + 3p-3a shift: Starting at $35/hr + 7p-7a shift: Starting at $40/hr. + $5 shift differential for overnight shifts!
