The University of Michigan - Dearborn Mardigian Library is currently accepting applications for Library Info Desk Student Assistants. We're looking for students who are passionate about providing the best possible experience for Mardigian Library users, are excited to build professional skills, have excellent customer service skills, and can work collaboratively with other students and staff.
Primary responsibilities of Student Assistants include:
Being the front face of the library and modeling excellent customer service practicesCultivating a welcoming, inclusive environment for UM-Dearborn students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guestsAssisting patrons with finding and accessing library resources (books/eBooks, databases, journals, course reserves, etc.) through in-person and telephone interactionsAnswering basic reference questions and making proper referrals to library staffHaving knowledge of Mardigian Library resources and services, as well as knowledge of other resource sharing systems (Get This, MeLCat, Interlibrary Loan)Checking in/checking out library materialsShelving, locating, organizing, and maintaining library materials Processing books, ebooks, journals, and other materials in the library collectionExplaining and enforcing library policies and proceduresProviding information about library and campus operationsWorking on special projects, as neededDesired Qualifications*Work study award for the current or upcoming academic semester preferred but not required.
This is an onsite position with the following scheduling requirements:
