Job Title: Liberty Partnerships Program Math Tutor PVN ID: ME-2508-006952 Category: Instruction and Social Service Location: MEDGAR EVERS COLLEGE Job Description General Description We are seeking a knowledgeable and patient Math Tutor to support high school students in understanding and mastering mathematical concepts. The ideal candidate will provide personalized instruction tailored to each student’s learning style and academic goals, with a focus on improving comprehension, boosting confidence, and achieving measurable academic progress. Other Duties + Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in high school math subjects, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics. + Assess students’ current math skills to identify strengths, weaknesses, and specific areas for improvement. + Develop customized lesson plans and practice exercises based on students' curriculum and learning needs. + Help students with homework, test preparation, and assignments, including SAT/ACT math sections and other standardized tests as needed. + Explain complex mathematical concepts in an easy-to-understand and engaging way to support deep understanding and retention. + Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents/guardians, and teachers (if applicable). + Utilize a variety of teaching tools and methods (visual aids, manipulatives, online platforms, etc.) to accommodate different learning styles. + Maintain accurate records of sessions, progress, and plans for future instruction. + Encourage a positive and growth-oriented mindset to build student confidence and resilience in math. + Stay current with math curriculum standards and teaching best practices. + Facilitating MEC LPP Assessments and Surveys. + Other duties as assigned.
