What You’ll Be Doing
As an Associate in the Global Leveraged Finance business, you will play a pivotal role within CIBC’s New York-based Investment Banking team. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring you to effectively process information while executing transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients in a constantly changing market environment. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate creativity, energy, and an entrepreneurial spirit to meet the evolving demands of the marketplace.
As a Leveraged Finance Associate, you will gain valuable experience in US leveraged finance underwriting and advisory business. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the execution of event-driven transactions, including leveraged buyouts, M&A financings, and dividend recapitalizations.
Drafting and presenting client presentations, pitch decks, and underwriting opinions.
Performing detailed financial analysis, including comparable company analysis and trend analysis in capital markets.
Collaborating with senior professionals to provide analytical, structuring, research, and transaction due diligence support.
Participating in client meetings and maintaining relationships with both internal teams and clients.
Monitoring market trends and regulatory requirements to identify strategic opportunities.
Supporting the preparation of necessary documentation for internal deal approval.
How You’ll Succeed
Degree educated (preferably in finance, economics, or a related field).
Strong knowledge of financial markets, credit analysis, and accounting principles.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create compelling presentations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and take initiative.
Committed to client satisfaction, with a proven ability to build relationships both internally and with clients.
Willing to work extended hours in a high-pressure/high-reward environment.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $175,000-$225,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
