**Job Summary**

The geographically diverse area provides faculty with a variety of urban, suburban, and rural living options within a reasonable commute, including Detroit, Detroit suburbs, and Ann Arbor.
The Department of Language, Culture, and the Arts, and the Composition and Rhetoric discipline in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applicants for a LEO Lecturer I, non-tenure-track appointment which begins August 27, 2025, through December 31, 2025, for the Fall 2025 term. Contractual full-time rate per term is $25,500; term salary is dependent on number of courses taught and course effort percentage, up to 75% appointment for the Fall 2025 term. The successful candidate will be comfortable teaching in face-to face, hybrid, and asynchronous/online modalities starting for the following Composition courses:
**COMP 105; Writing and Rhetoric I, a 3 credit-hour course at 25% effort, up to 100% effort**
Comp 105: Focuses on the study and practice of writing and rhetoric, with special emphasis on the writing process. Students write and read critically a range of texts and consider academic and nonacademic genres and conventions. (F,W).
The appointment is for one semester only, with possibility for reappointment for future terms.
**Required Qualifications***
M.A. in composition and rhetoric, professional writing, or a related field.
Evidence of excellence in teaching first-year writing in multiple modes.
**Desired Qualifications***
Experience working with second-language or multilingual writers.
Experience teaching in computer-mediated environments.

**Union Affiliation**
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
