The full LEO contract can be found at https://hr.umich.edu/sites/default/files/um-leo-agreement-2021-2024-final.pdf. **Job Summary** The LEO Intermittent Lecturer in PitE will serve as the Community Co-instructor who will co-teach the course Food Literacy for All with a UM Faculty Instructor. Launched in 2017, Food Literacy for All is a community-academic partnership course run by the Sustainable Food Systems Initiative but co-designed, co-planned, and co-taught with local community partners. Structured as a primarily virtual evening lecture series - with at least two in-person events - Food Literacy for All features different guest speakers each week to address diverse challenges and opportunities of both domestic and global food systems. The course aims to ignite new conversations and deepen existing commitments to building more equitable, health-promoting, and ecologically sustainable food systems. The course typically enrolls over 200 undergraduate and graduate students from across campus, and is also free and open to the public, drawing an audience from the wider UM, Michigan and national/global community. Learn more about employee benefits and eligibility at https://hr.umich.edu/benefits-wellness/benefits-enrollment/benefits-enrollment-eligibility . **Responsibilities*** Duties and responsibilities for this lecturer position are: + Team teach/support ENVIRON 314 "Food Literacy for All", a 2-credit hour course for the Winter 2025 semester (which also includes other sections of the course that students can enroll in) working alongside the UM Faculty Co-Instructor, the Food Literacy for All Course Coordinator, and one Graduate Student Instructor (GSI). \ + Help identify the course theme and dynamic speakers to invite to the course, working with Detroit-based community partners who have supported the course since its launch. + Engage with potential visiting speakers to schedule them as guest lectures for the class. + Support fundraising efforts to supplement honoraria and other course costs. + Rotate hosting, managing Q&A, one-on-one speaker conversations, and speaker panels during the evening course. + Support logistics and hosting of in-person events associated with the course. + Meet regularly with the Food Literacy for All course team, and handle routine matters related to course planning, management, logistics and instruction. All class sessions are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8p.m. from January through the end of April, and the position requires at least two in-person events in Ann Arbor during the semester, with the majority of course planning meetings and evening course sessions held remotely. **Required Qualifications*** + At least 5 years of experience working on food systems change efforts in Michigan, either at a non-profit, policy advocacy organization, rural or urban agriculture, a small-scale food business, as a community organizer, or some other form of community-based food systems work **Desired Qualifications*** + One year of teaching experience, preferably in a college or university setting + Experience working as part of a team and coordinating virtual and in-person events. + Wide-ranging knowledge of food systems trends, actors and movements in Detroit and Michigan, and ideally at the national and/or global level. + Comfort speaking in front of and interacting with large audiences and facilitating conversations with speakers or panels. + Familiarity with remote and hybrid learning strategies and technologies. + Demonstrated commitment to promoting and participating in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives related to food systems. **Modes of Work** Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
