The topics covered in the course are chosen to allow students to make connections to various academic contexts, both to encourage students' reflective understanding and critical analysis, and to provide an improved basis for action. **Course Description** **Course Number: EDUC 761** **Course Title: Higher Education Institutions as Complex Organizations** This course intends to provide students with insights into the functioning of educational organizations by exposing them to a wide range of viewpoints in the literature that portray colleges and universities as complex organizations. **Selection criteria:** + Knowledge of the field + Knowledge of the curriculum and relevant instructional approaches for these courses + Instructional experience + Evidence of organization, reliability, timeliness, and careful work + Teaching evaluations (if available) **Course Schedule: Thursday, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (hybrid or remote)** **Required Qualifications*** + PhD + Experience in relevant area **Desired Qualifications*** + Experience teaching at master's and doctoral levels + Previous teaching experience in a course of this nature + Use of critical perspectives in teaching **Modes of Work** Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
