The Office of the Governor's staff includes budgeting, communications and outreach, legal counsel, legislative liaison, operations, policy and research, and scheduling. Description of Job Position Title: Legislative Coordinator Department: Legislative Affairs Organizational Relationships: This position reports to the Director of Legislative Affairs and is part of the Governor’s Office team. Work schedule: This is a hybrid position, expected to be in office at least 3 days per week. Actual schedule will be determined by supervisor and needs of the department. FLSA Classification: Exempt Summary of Functions: The Legislative Coordinator provides general and administrative support to the Governor’s legislative team. This position also helps coordinate the various department liaisons to assist them with communication with the Legislative Affairs Office and provide support as needed to accomplish their goals. The team’s goals are to achieve passage of Administration and Department proposals during the legislative session. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Support tracking legislation during the session, including department bills + Support internal processes to ensure comprehensive analysis of each bill. + Work with the Governor's Office legal, budget, and policy staff on specific legislation and proposed legislation + Support process for Final Bill Action by the Governor + Coordinate with the Governor's Office legal, budget, policy, and communications staff to execute final action on bills. + Coordinate bill memos and briefs regarding legislation. + Plan and execute bill-signing events, including the yearly bill-signing tour. + Strategic scheduling + Calendar coordination + Communication development and execution + Other tasks as needed Assist Agency Liaisons + Plan regular liaison meetings + Provide assistance and support to liaisons as needed + Meet and work with agency Legislative Liaisons on specific legislation and proposed legislation. Other Activities to Assist the Legislative Team + Draft memos on issues important to the Governor and legislative team + Attend and take notes in hearings and meetings + Coordinate legislative presentations + Collaboration with Communications - applicable press releases, Governor visits to member districts. + Stand up and manage various internal processes throughout the different cycles in the office. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Education/Experience: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent amount of education and relevant work experience. + Must express a passion and interest in legislative affairs, possess strong communication skills and attention to detail. + Strong individual initiative/work ethic. + Interest in public service. + Ability to responsibly handle and participate in confidential work. + Strong commitment to good government and nonpartisanship.
