Job Description

This is a hybrid role in Perrysburg, Ohio. 

This role will possess the ability to take initiative, manage a multitude of tasks and claims simultaneously, and adapt quickly to changing priorities. The Legal Specialist must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and possess exceptional follow up and problem-solving skills. They will also need superior organization skills, excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, along with the ability to effectively present ideas and concepts as part of a team and to interact effectively with others. This position requires the highest level of discretion, sensitivity and integrity in handling confidential information.

Responsibilities: 

Claims Management:

Support the investigation, evaluation, litigation, and disposition of claims brought in state and federal courts, and various administrative agenciesCoordinate with attorneys in the O-I Legal Department, commercial and sales teams, and quality personnel to help assess and resolve customer and consumer complaints/claimsManage the execution of legal hold directives, as well as their releaseManage discovery related tasks in coordination with attorneys in the O-I Legal Department, outside legal counsel, and O-I employees across functions and geographies, including preparing responses to discovery requests and subpoenas, collecting and organizing documents, email, and electronic data, and identifying and coordinating with potential witnesses for purposes of fact-gathering and testimonyAttend depositions, mediations, hearings, or trials as necessary to represent the Company in conjunction with outside defense counselAssist attorneys in the O-I Legal Department in the preparation of materials that support the Company’s audits and financial reporting 

        Records Management:

Coordinate with O-I’s Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer to manage O-I’s records management programDevelop a strong working knowledge and understanding of the Company’s records retention schedule and assist with edits and enhancements to that records retention scheduleRespond to questions related to records management and retentionDevelop and conduct training on records management and retentionAssist with document review and disposition of records consistent with the records retention scheduleManage projects related to records management, including to improve processes and procedures to identify, maintain and preserve records as required by law, regulation and business processes

Compliance Work:

Support the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer with compliance work as assigned, including in such areas as privacy, periodic required filings, and other information/data requests

QualificationsBachelor’s degree in related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in a litigation support role at a law firm and/or corporationPrior Paralegal or Attorney experience preferredE-discovery experience preferredExperience with records and information management programs/processesExperience supporting compliance work preferredExcellent written and oral communications skillsDemonstrated teamwork and project management capabilitiesStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsExperience as a liaison between business units and support teams

Additional Information

Salary Range: 

The salary range for this position will be between $87,000- $123,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience, job grade, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Potential for STI %.
