JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Legal Specialist

LOCATION: Shanghai

THE OPPORTUNITY: Avantor is seeking a dedicated Legal Specialist to join our Legal Team, to provide legal advisory services and to support business operation and growth.  As a key member of the China Legal Team, the Legal Specialist will primarily focus on reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, as well as handling legal administrative matters to support the operations of Avantor’s legal entities in China. This role will serve as an important business partner, helping to facilitate daily operations and contributing to sustainable and accelerated growth.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications):

LLB degree or above from a recognized law school.PRC bar is preferred.Working experience in law firm or in-house legal role, preferably with some experience in the medical devices, life sciences, and/or pharma industries.At least 3 years of legal working experience.Good knowledge of Chinese corporate and contract laws.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those required to perform the job competently)

Strong self-motivation and eagerness to learn new things and take on new challenges.Good communication, interpersonal and organization skills.Good team player with ability and willingness to cooperate.Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese and English and ability to draft legal documents in Chinese and English.Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and PowerPoint.

HOW YOU WILL THRIVE AND CREATE AN IMPACT:

Draft, review, revise and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and legal documents, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the process.Provide legal support for internal approval processes and monitor company chops management.Conduct legal research and deliver strategic legal advice to support business objectives.Assist with a range of legal and compliance matters and projects, including intellectual property and data privacy compliance.Manage legal files and ensure proper records retention.Support initiatives to continuously improve the efficiency and quality of legal services, ensuring legal advice is practical and aligned with business needs.
