Position: Legal Researcher

Job Description:
We are seeking a Legal Researcher to provide research and administrative support to the legal team. The ideal candidate will assist with legal research, drafting legal documents, managing regulatory claims, and supporting litigation efforts related to public and private utility billing issues. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities:

Conduct legal research using online databases (LexisNexis, agency websites, etc.). Assist attorneys with research related to energy billing, utility regulations, and administrative practices. Draft, review, and revise legal documents, including motions, briefs, and appeals. Manage claims with regulatory bodies from inception to resolution. Research case law, rules, and regulations to identify savings and litigation opportunities. Collaborate with auditors and legal teams to facilitate billing adjustments and regulatory compliance. Monitor industry developments and provide research memoranda to the legal team. Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for document preparation and analysis.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; current enrollment in a U.S. law school is a plus. Strong legal research experience (prior experience preferred). Interest in public utilities, energy law, and regulatory matters. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work both independently and within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Word (TOA & TOC), Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF tools. Experience with case management software is a plus. Reliable attendance and professional demeanor.

Work Schedule & Modality:

Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). Remote position, but must be able to commute to Carolina in a few months as the position will transition to on-site.
