**POSITION DESCRIPTION**
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a bilingual Japanese and English Real Estate / Property Lawyer to join the Japan team of CBRE Investment Management, one of the world's leading real assets investment management firms with US$148.3 billion of assets under management (as at 30 September 2024).
The successful candidate will support the firm’s Japan business on its legal affairs, with a strong emphasis on asset management related matters. The position is based in Tokyo and reports to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer of Asia-Pacific, with a dotted reporting line to Country Head-Japan.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the negotiation and project management of asset management related legal documentation such as leases, construction contracts, contractor contracts, property management agreements and design agreements.
+ Assist with investment related legal documentation such as acquisitions, joint ventures, acquisition financing and divestments.
+ Assist with other corporate legal affairs such as employment and litigation matters.
+ Supervise and coordinate external counsel as required.
+ Develop and implement best practices and process improvements.
+ Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across Japan and APAC.
**Candidate Profile:**
+ Bilingual Japanese and English Real Estate / Property Lawyer with 8+ years of post-qualification experience in Japan.
+ Significant experience with Japanese legal documentation related to asset management matters. Experience with Japanese legal documentation related to investment related matters will also be well regarded.
+ Experience acquired from reputable law firms and/or investment firms.
+ Strong project management capabilities, commercially pragmatic and the able to ability to work under the time and work pressures of a transactional environment.
+ Clear communications skills, with the ability to form productive working relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders in Japan and APAC.
