Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Education Compliance Advisor to support the development, implementation, and oversight of legal and regulatory compliance within the education sector. The successful candidate will ensure that programs, policies, and practices align with relevant provincial and federal legislation, while promoting accountability and continuous improvement across educational institutions or agencies. This role is ideal for a professional with strong knowledge of Ontario’s education system, applicable laws, and a commitment to equity, integrity, and public service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and interpret legislation, regulations, and policies relevant to the Ontario education sector (e.g., Education Act, AODA, FIPPA) Advise internal teams and stakeholders on compliance obligations and legal risk mitigation Conduct reviews and audits to assess compliance with regulatory and policy frameworks Support the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to meet legal and ethical standards Prepare reports, briefings, and guidance documents for senior management and external regulators Assist in the resolution of compliance issues, investigations, or complaints Collaborate with legal counsel, policy teams, and program staff to ensure alignment between operational practices and legal requirements Deliver training and capacity-building initiatives on compliance, ethics, and risk management Contribute to continuous improvement of compliance processes and tracking systemsQualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Law, Public Administration, Education, or a related field (J.D./LL.B. an asset) 3–5 years of experience in compliance, legal advisory, or policy roles within government, education, or a regulated environment Strong understanding of Ontario education legislation and public sector regulatory frameworks Excellent research, analysis, and policy interpretation skills Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly Experience conducting audits, assessments, or investigations is an asset Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders Knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in compliance work is a strong assetWe thank all candidates in advance.
